Youth Job Opportunity – Trail Stewardship and Trail Safety with RCATV

Position Title: Trail Stewardship and Trail Safety

Hours: 20-25 hours

Start to end date: August – October

The individual in this position will be supporting RCATV with implementing its trail management plan, risk management and trail development strategy. As a growing and progressive club with over 1000km of trails, the volunteer Board of Directors need consistent support to help RCATV manage its trail inventory, support with trail risk management and safety.

Projects include:

  • Trail signage review and addressing substandard signage
  • Trail stewardship activities like marking hazards and culverts
  • Identify invasive species
  • Using trail equipment to brush trails and around signage to keep trails clear and safe for riders
  • Ambassadorship on the trail when encountering riders

Job Conditions:

  • Travelling may be required
  • Work on weekends may be required
  • Working in outdoors in various weather conditions may be required
  • Physically able to walk distances up to 500m, carry up to 30lbs
  • Comfortable with small brushing equipment

Qualifications:

  • Ages 16 – 30
  • Minimum experience : 0-1 years
  • Minimum educational level : None
  • Knowledge: Equipment safety orientation will be provided
  • Certifications: Valid Driver’s License (if working in pairs one must have a licence and vehicle)
